When you’re a club member, you get training in Pathways and from fellow members. If you are a club officer, you are expected to attend TLI for your role. If you are an Area or Division Director, you get to go to District Executive Council meetings. All these events and roles provide training to enable our leaders to be better versions of themselves – hopefully for the benefit of all. I guess you could say that training is a very important part of our organization. But what about the Trio? I’m glad you asked …
This last weekend I got to attend (for the final time I might add) an event called “Mid-Year Trio Training.” This special event lasted two full days. It was hosted and facilitated by members of the Board of Directors, the Toastmasters World Headquarters staff, and the best Region Advisors you could ask for. The funny thing is that although it is only two days, it is commonly referred to as “drinking water from a fire hose.” I am so grateful for this organization and its continued investment in me and all the members and everyone who has taken the time to teach me, show me, and help me be better.
Now comes the fun part … I can’t say enough that this weekend I received tons of information. I also was so grateful for all the special moments of getting to see friends and peers from all over the world. Our founder, Dr. Ralph Smedley, wisely stated, “We learn best in moments of enjoyment.” This, I think, sums up my experience 100%! When I look back, I am excited to have had the chance to grow and get to know so many amazing and wonderful people. If there was one final thing … I guess it would just be Keep Growing … It’s worth it!
