by Jesse Ford DTM District Director
Overcoming hardship as a leader requires resilience and adaptability. Leading during difficult times means focusing on people first while simultaneously maintaining focus on the long-term vision. A leader must also first cultivate mental toughness. This means being able to handle stress, uncertainty, and adversity without losing sight of their goals. The ability to stay calm under pressure, manage emotions, and make decisions despite the obstacles is key to not only surviving but thriving in times of hardship. So who is the example of such a leader?
Help me now, everyone, as we congratulate Larry Harmon the current Division E Director as the Outstanding Leader of the month. Being a division director is tough. You have almost no control over the team you are assigned to work with and to make matters harder you have to actually be elected. This means you have to campaign and convince people that you are the right person for the job even when it seems impossible. Now what has Larry done? Buckle Up…
Larry has led his Division team and despite some staff issues and other things still managed to have his team put on the first Area Level speech contest. Shout out Division E Area 51 Director Jenall Gold. Now Larry also has amazing Area 53 Director Joshua Bauer who although truthfully this is his 2nd time being an Area Director this time he is doing so with several kids at home. Larry has led his team through contest, put on his Division led TLI and still is managing to get all the things done. Larry volunteers to help judge at contest and challenges everyone to always step up and do more. Larry thank you for being one of the people that everyone in the district can all count on. You push through the adversity and come out stronger. Larry you may have had some growing pains this year but we are all so proud of you. Congratulations.
