District 25 Contests 2025-2026

Types of Contests

District 25 will hold two kinds of speech contests for the 2025 – 2026 Toastmasters year.  They are:

·      Humorous Contest:

§  The speech must be thematic in nature (opening, body, and close), not a monologue (series of one-liners).

§  5-7 min speech, topic of speaker’s choice, must be substantially original.

§  Contestants can listen to each other’s speeches.

·      International Speech Contest:

§  Reveal your command of message delivery!

§  5-7 min speech, topic of speaker’s choice, must be substantially original.

§  Contestants can listen to each other’s speeches.

Contest Formats

  • Club Contests: In-person, virtual or hybrid, at the discretion of the club.
    • Clubs may send a representative to Area Contest(s) without holding a formal club contest.
    • If a club contest is held, it must comply with the rules in the 2025-2026 Rulebook.
  • Area, Division and District Contests: In Person

 

Dates for Contests

  • Club Contests – January 2026 preferably or completed 2 to 3 weeks before Area Contest date
  • Area Contests – Between 2/05/2026 and 3/28/2026
  • Division Contests – Between 3/28/2026 and 4/30/2026
  • District Humorous Speech Contest – May 15, 2026
  • District International Speech Contest – May 16, 2026

Below is an excerpt from the rule book related to education requirements for the International Speech Contest:

All contestants must be paid members of a club in good standing, and for the International Speech Contest must also have earned Certificates of Completion in Levels 1 and 2 of any path within the Toastmasters Pathways Learning Experience or have earned a Distinguished Toastmaster award.  However, a charter member of a club chartered less than one (1) year before the club contest is permitted to compete without having completed this requirement. The club must have officially chartered before the Area contest.
