District 25’s Leadership Advance Camp was a two-day experience designed to prepare incoming Area and Division Directors for success. With the theme Becoming ONE, the training emphasized unity, leadership growth, and our shared District Mission:
“We build new clubs and support all clubs in achieving excellence.”
Led by the District Trio and Immediate Past District Director, the sessions were thoughtfully structured — bite-sized, sprinkled with humor, and filled with fun incentives to keep us engaged. From practical leadership skills to conflict resolution strategies, the weekend offered a strong foundation for the year ahead.
One of the most memorable activities was a scavenger hunt around Mineral Wells, where teams were challenged to locate 13 unique items and deliver a creative PowerPoint presentation the following day. My team, made up of three Area Directors and one Division Director, brought four different working styles to the table: Eagle (Driver), Owl (Analytical), Dove (Amiable), and Peacock (Expressive). Together, our personalities and leadership traits formed a powerful fusion of creativity, teamwork, and execution.
The laughter was non-stop — from getting lost to experiencing the back seat of a Mineral Wells police car (just for fun!), to photobombing fellow Toastmasters. Those shared moments turned strangers into a team, becoming one with a common purpose and lasting camaraderie.
Most importantly, this training empowers us to better support our clubs. By strengthening our leadership, communication, and collaboration skills, we’re better equipped to help each club thrive, ensuring every member has a meaningful and successful Toastmasters experience.
As I begin my journey as an Area Director, I feel both honored and excited. The skills, relationships, and insights I gained are not just for Toastmasters, but for life.
