The District 25 Toastmasters Summit, “Rising As One,” was an inspiring day filled with connection, laughter, and learning. As a presenter, I had the joy of leading an education session and seeing members fully engaged — sharing insights, participating in activities, and celebrating the power of communication and cross-cultural growth.
As a first-time attendee and education session speaker, I truly felt how much I’ve grown since beginning my Toastmasters journey. I still had butterflies in the first minute of my speech, but once I realized everyone in the room was there because they were genuinely interested in my topic, my nerves transformed into happiness and gratitude. My session’s interactive “script activities” received wonderful feedback, and it warmed my heart to see everyone so engaged and having fun.
Throughout the day, I learned so much from fellow speakers and attendees — from Krystal Besaw’s powerful keynote on resilience and stoicism to my mentor, Lawrencina Mason Oramalu’s, insightful session on emotional intelligence. During lunch, I had the honor of serving as Toastmaster to introduce Robi Ley, whose heartfelt message encouraged everyone to find their unique voice. The afternoon sessions by Jamie and Mark English used ballroom dancing as a creative metaphor for leadership and followership, leading perfectly into Jesse Ford and Chuck LeBlanc’s engaging presentation on ways to get involved in District 25.
The Summit reminded me of the many opportunities to grow, serve, and give back within our District. I left inspired, grateful, and more determined than ever to continue supporting our members and breaking barriers together. I deeply appreciate the time, energy, and effort every member of the Summit Committee put in, and I look forward to attending next year’s Summit!
