by Jesse Ford DTM District Director
Do leaders ever really stop leading? If you have led a team, then it stands to reason that team will impact you for the rest of your life. Experiences both good and bad, tough and easy, fun or boring all have ways to shape our future perspectives. Thomas Peters, a known management consultant, writer, and researcher who has been a leading figure in business for decades has made the argument that, “Leaders don’t create followers, they create more leaders.” I ask again… Do leaders ever really stop leading? Well in District 25 they don’t!
Our outstanding member for April originally joined Toastmasters back in 2016. On the fast track for leadership, this member quickly became an Area Director and then took on the task of being the Conference Chair. Sounds fun, right? But wait … there’s more. This member then became a division director and then became the Program Quality Director and then, even though they may have been what some would say short on Toastmasters experience, they became the District Director in just five years. Who is this amazing leader? Congratulations to Ninfa Flewitt, DTM, PDD! You are the outstanding member. But now, of course, you want to know why?
Since her term as DD Ninfa has been the IPDD, the Credentials Chair, and this year helped with the District Realignment for Pilot Group A. She helps members in her three clubs, inspiring people to take on challenges and face their fears in a way known around the district for her motherly type of encouragement. I want to again say thank you to Ninfa for modeling the way and continuing to serve our members and being an example of how leadership is more than a title, it’s about influence and sharing the best of you. Ninfa, you have helped the district grow in more ways than one. Oh, and let’s not forget that you even went to the District 23 conference to lead an educational session and be part of a leadership panel. Way to GROW! Congratulations again to Ninfa Flewitt the April Outstanding Member.
