Are you familiar with the theme song from the old cartoon show Gummi Bears? Editing it just slightly for this month’s Outstanding Member of the Month we get:
Dashing and daring, courageous and caring,
Faithful and friendly with stories to share!……….
Bouncing here and there and everywhere!
High adventure that’s beyond compare!
He is the OMOTM Jin Lim.
Honestly, he’s here and there and everywhere! I’m hearing about Jin dropping in and popping up, helping out, supporting, trying, learning, and leading all across the district at all sorts of events, meetings and … all of the things all of the time. And he’s EXCITED ALL OF THE TIME! He feels that Toastmasters is a leadership and growth adventure, and he’s eager to see where the journey takes him and anyone else, he can encourage to come along.
Every time you see Jin, he is bouncy, friendly, and fun. He is happy to share his knowledge and passion, he’s eager to support any endeavor to help others be successful. Jin is keen not only to learn about everything but share that as needed and wanted with anyone/everyone else he talks to.
Jin does a tremendous amount of things but isn’t seeking credit or fanfare. He’s rather off handed and humble about all he does and has done, yet he truly appreciates the opportunities Toastmasters has given him to grow. He sees how he has directly benefited from the opportunities give to him and the support he has received in the various countries he’s lived in and clubs he’s joined. This is what drives him to share, encourage, and grow others. District 25 is not his original home, but we hope it will be his home for a long time.
As one of this year’s Area Directors, Jim earns appreciation from Area 62 clubs for his dedication and support. Beyond his role, he assists with Speechcraft sessions, demo meetings, and provides personalized encouragement to struggling clubs. He consistently attends district events, encourages others to do the same, and exemplifies engagement in all situations. Jin fosters personal relationships through open conversations and actively supports others in contests. His officer training sessions at TLI are highly successful, and he’s committed to continuous learning, currently training to be a contest chief judge.
Jin sets an example in innumerable ways. He has a focus on the future – he not only encourages others to step into leadership next year, but he is also looking at roles for himself where he can impact others while growing himself. He’s already creating excitement for future members through his lovely daughter Yang Yang who accompanies him to many in-person meetings.
While Jin does not aggressively seek recognition or to be the center of attention, most people know who he is because of his positive, supportive personality that makes others want to have him on their team. He’s always eager to say YES to helping in any capacity, understanding that his growth comes from embracing various roles, many of which involve assisting others in trying new things.
It is through his continual quiet, dedicated, enthusiastic, knowledgeable support of others and his sincere desire to be able to grow and support others in the best way he can that Jin exemplifies our Share Your Sunshine focus. Congratulations Jin on being February’s Outstanding Member of the Month!
