by Jesse Ford DTM District Director
If you ever want to serve the members at a District level, the positions are vast and there are opportunities for all sorts of roles. Maybe you want to be the District Chief Judge like Ana Kielpinski and help train judges and be a critical part of the Contest Team. Perhaps you’d like to be the Webmaster like Michael Levy, who helps lead the team that makes our beautiful District website world renown. If those two roles aren’t your style, there are other opportunities like Youth Leadership Chair Karen Coleman who is bringing up the next generation. All these opportunities are crucial to the growth of our district. They are all a one-year commitment.
This is where this next role and member shines.
Laurie McKee, coming off her year as an Area Director, was asked by Joyce Trimble (and you don’t say no to Joyce) to serve on Year End Celebration committee. Before you knew it, Laurie had become the Recognition Chair for the 2023-24 year.
Laurie did a fabulous job in her role at the Year-End-Celebration.
So … Laurie actually completed a 15-month rally for Recognition chair, but she did it with continuous grace and a constant smile. Not only that, but she kept diligent notes, and has shared them with next year’s Recognition Chair, so that person is off to a very organized start. Thank you, Laurie, for keeping track of all the recognition, doing all the “Stuff and Things” our IPDD Emily Murray had you track for recognition, and for striving, in your own special way, to make the district GROW.
Congratulations again to Laurie McKee for being the Outstanding Member of the Month!
