John Maxwell said, “There is almost no limit to the potential of an organization that recruits good people, raises them up as leaders and continually develops them.” I read that and I thought, “This is Toastmasters … This is people like Jamie Pickering, who after doing the full Trio gambit decided to continue on for more and has become an amazing Region Advisor. It’s people like Ninfa Flewit taking the role as Toastmaster for the Year End Celebration, and Chris Raneri who ran to be on the Board of Directors last year. It’s people like you and like me and I am more inspired than ever.” This year the focus “Here we GROW” is all about doing things better, but more importantly, it’s about doing them together.
District 25 has a rich legacy of amazing people doing incredible things, but how do we keep growing? What will take us from where we are now and into the next 100 years? The “GROW” focus started with gratitude but the next piece is all about Relationships. We need to make sure to always be taking care of those around us. When we read the club mission it starts with providing a “supportive and positive learning experience …” Every time I hear the mission statement or read it to myself, I am reminded that supporting others in a positive way is absolutely essential. Who are you being a support to? Who is always in your corner and on your team? People often say that you are the product of the five people you spend the most time with … I say if that’s true then make sure those people are pulling you up and not dragging you down. So now District 25 Let’s GROW together!
