Have you heard a great speech? The kind where you are thinking about the topic, the speaker, or the atmosphere after the event. I am still vibing from exhilarating keynotes and sessions from the D25 Annual Conference. The theme: Our Next Great Adventure did not disappoint and left me inspired and excitedly looking for what I can do in this next year ahead!
My conference experience started on Friday when I arrived early to volunteer. I would absolutely recommend volunteering. Not only does it help the event run smoothly, but it also gives you another opportunity to meet and work with new Toastmasters friends.
Our first keynote speaker was Bob Tiede. He had us all hooked talking about Leading With Questions. He even gave us each a signed copy of his book Now That’s A Great Question. I also attended Bob’s session; he was that good. All the keynotes were wonderful, but I have limited real estate here so I’m sticking to just Bob.
My home club; Progressive Leaders, sponsored Paige Dixon’s Session. It was a great way for our club to gain some exposure and in the process support a community member. The session was well attended, and Paige kept the room entertained and impressed with stories of her life as a mother, combat veteran, and community activist.
I have been in Toastmasters for three years. I’m just finishing out my year as an Area Director and am the Division B Director-Elect for next year. Several of my home club and area club members attended the conference, either virtually or in person. From attending sessions, keynotes, meals, DTM ceremony, and volunteering together I got to grow my Toastmasters circle a little wider. I was able to learn some new speech and leadership skills which will serve me on my journey. I believe that my fellow Toastmasters all did too. I’m already looking forward to the next events. Do yourself a favor and sign up for one, or all, of these events: the Year End Celebration, the Summit, and next year’s Annual Conference. I’m looking forward to seeing you there!
