by Ellen Slezak Area 31 Director
The D25 District Executive Council Meeting was a remarkable blend of fun and information, thanks to the collaborative efforts of the trio. Our first business meeting set the stage for a productive and engaging year ahead. All six divisions were well represented though as a biased member of Division C – Cool Champions, I must say we know how to have fun.
The Division Directors kept us entertained while sharing updates about their teams and news, fostering a sense of community and excitement. Jenny Riddle, Division A Director, won with a creative cowboy-themed song. Her performance not only conveyed important information but also raised the bar for how announcements can be made engaging and memorable. Way to go, Jenny!
Lola Stone, Contest Coordinator, provided an informative session on the upcoming contest season that will include Table Topics and the International Speech contest. Her guidance emphasized the importance of preparation and participation. Area Directors were encouraged to start identifying Contest Chairs and Contest Toastmasters. If you are a member ready for a high-level project, consider volunteering for these roles before your Area Director even asks.
As we look forward to the year ahead, our leadership approach will be grounded in several key qualities: servant leadership, transformational initiatives, “funication” (combining fun with communication), integrity, inspiration, situational awareness, service, and inclusivity. These principles will guide our actions and decisions, ensuring that we not only achieve our goals but also create an enriching and supportive environment for all members.
This meeting set a positive tone for the year, and we are excited to build on this momentum, embracing both the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.
