As we enter the second half of the Toastmasters term, Division C Director Jerod Blackman reflects on the valuable lessons learned, the progress made, and the exciting plans ahead. Jerod shares his insights and aspirations for the remaining six months of his term.
Lessons Learned and Personal Growth: When asked about the valuable lessons learned in his role, Jerod emphasizes the importance of seeking help and support early and often. He acknowledges the power of saying “no” when necessary. “Practicing these skills mindfully,” he says, “I have felt more confident voicing my needs at work and with my fellow leaders here in Toastmasters.” Jerod’s commitment to personal growth is evident, highlighting the transformative impact these experiences have had on him.
Division Goals and Progress: Jerod expresses gratitude for the dedicated Area Directors on his team, noting their engagement, proactivity, and mutual support. “I am confident that we will end the year strong and be better for it,” he affirms. The collaborative spirit within the division has been a driving force behind the progress made toward achieving the set goals.
Looking Ahead to Contest Season: With contest season approaching, Jerod plans to tap into the supportive and competitive spirit of Toastmasters. Collaborating with his Area Directors, he aims to challenge members to “show up and show out,” showcasing the capabilities of Division 25. In addition, Jerod plans to create PR materials to inspire and support his team during this exciting season.
Challenges and Opportunities on the Horizon: Jerod acknowledges the busy times ahead, especially with TLI and contest season. Despite the challenges posed by family and work commitments, he expresses confidence that the division will rise to the occasion. Jerod commits to being more present, available, and extra supportive/responsive during this demanding period.
Engaging and Supporting Division Members: For the next six months, Jerod plans to leverage social media more effectively and create engaging email content. He envisions fostering a sense of community and collaboration within the division. “I love social media,” he shares, “and I am hoping to leverage this better over the next few months, as well as by creating fun and engaging email content for my division members to speak to and celebrate achievements while challenging them to ‘Share their Sunshine’.”
