On Thursday, August 31st, the D25 Town Hall was taken over by our very own Strategic Planning Committee (SPC). Prior to the event, members across the district were encouraged to attend and “step into the spotlight”, with the goal of celebrating our accomplishments, addressing areas for improvement, and brainstorming innovative ideas to elevate our district. The meeting was conducted in several segments, helping us to easily focus on each goal of the Town Hall.
First, the committee highlighted the past years’ worth of progress that our district has conquered. Afterward, we reviewed the leadership path example, as a reminder for those focusing on growth within the district. Following that, Bobby Madera took the lead, delving into the club growth aspect of the plan, and subsequently, Samantha Watt elaborated on the topic of membership growth. Finally, Kelsey Dean stepped in to discuss the educational aspect of the discussion.
While in good spirits and in the right mindset, the meeting moved to an open forum discussion. The time was used to talk about some of the basic principles of TLI and how they can be optimized in new ways. Attendees also discussed marketing to a younger crowd, how to highlight for members the use of getting involved outside the club, and really defining “What’s in it for me?”
The meeting proved to be incredibly educational for all, particularly for me. I found myself brainstorming for the rest of the evening, and into the next day, on ways to see my own club navigate and operate to better aid our members, and therefore the district. I was able to see new faces, as well as get some contact info for further discussions. I left the meeting excited and feeling supported by the district and the SPC. It’s evident that they consider our input, and I have confidence in the direction our team is heading.
