The September 25th meeting for Progressive Leaders Toastmasters was a remarkable celebration, not only marking the Open House but also commemorating the Ten Year Charterversary of this specialty focused club promoting progressive politics and social and economic justice issues.
The evening featured three prominent personalities who have held political office and are either present or former members of the club. Among these distinguished panelists were Bob Marion, DTM, the club’s founding sponsor, who joined remotely from Oklahoma, charter member Sally Ortega Putney, and Sudhir Joshi, the current VP of Public Relations.
The meeting’s discussion was moderated by Sem Habtemariam, the Immediate Past President. Each panel member shared their insights and experiences, providing 2–3-minute responses to prepared questions. Following the panel discussion, the floor was opened to the entire audience creating an engaging, interactive atmosphere.
The event effectively united present and past members, along with visitors, including several charter members, fostering a strong sense of community and shared purpose. The hybrid format was a key element in facilitating local participation while also accommodating members and guests visiting from other states.
I’d like to extend special recognition to Area Director Nicole Dogan for her dedication to not only attend the meeting but exercising the value of her commitment to the club’s activities. The Ten Year Charterversary was an enjoyable and meaningful occasion that captured the club’s spirit and achievements over the past decade. I am so pleased to add that Progressive Leaders Toastmasters earned the Golden Gavel award.
Congratulations On A Job Well Done!
