Featuring Denise McConnell DTM Division A Director
Denise McConnell joined Toastmasters in May 2009. Since that time, she then has been a member of many clubs, and she has served in every club officer position. In addition to these roles, she has also served as Area Director, TLI Chair, and Conference Chair. Her home club is Highway to Excellence.
“I loved serving in the Area Director role because I got to be very hands-on with my clubs,” says Denise. “As a Division Director, I now have a clearer picture of district operations. The DD role is a management position, and it’s sharpening my skills in leading people to support a bigger purpose.”
Denise is proud that her staff of Area Directors is a cohesive group. They are competitive, and their statistics bear that out. Each member of the group brings great skills to the table, and they work together to succeed as a team.
At the end of the year, Denise is prepared to measure her division’s success by how she served her team and how her team served the membership. When the leadership serves well, everyone grows and moves forward.
Denise says, “Each opportunity that I have said ‘yes’ to has been a master class in personal development. I am learning amazing things about myself, and I’m developing into a quality human being. Toastmasters is helping me grow into a person that I am proud of.”
