My name is Alisha McCuan and I joined Toastmaster’s club Mr. Cooper Speaks in October of 2023. I decided to join so that I can become more comfortable speaking publicly and meet like-minded peers. On December 16th, I had the honor of attending my first Club Success Workshop which had plenty of excellent takeaways, and was a wonderful introduction to the Toastmaster culture, and to the wonderful people in D25.
The approach to the theme Beyond the Lectern was well organized, well planned, and easy to follow. It made us all reflect on our own Toastmaster’s experiences and how it has shaped our interpersonal relationships. We discussed ways to be cognizant of our surroundings and who we are speaking to, refine techniques for approaching potential new members and how we can encourage members to take leadership roles without being pushy. Coming together and encouraging each other left me excited to help other people start their journey with Toastmaster’s and made me proud to be part of D25.
