by Kim Story DTM Annual Conference DTM Chair
The DTM Award is the highest education level that an individual Toastmaster can achieve, and the DTM Ceremony is where that accomplishment is recognized.
In my experience, I have not encountered any Toastmasters members who, when asked why they joined, enthusiastically answered “to get my DTM.” Instead, this goal develops after becoming a member. Through the Toastmasters experience, one comes to realize that the DTM designation represents more than just an acronym. It means a dedication to speechcraft and mentorship. It means hours of volunteering and a strong desire to give back to the Toastmasters community.
District 25 knows how to honor this achievement. When we say “world-renowned D25 DTM Ceremony”, it’s more than just a catchphrase to put in a bulletin. Other districts look to us and learn how to recognize their members in a special way.
I am honored to serve as the 2023 Annual Conference DTM Ceremony Chair. If you have achieved this award and have not yet participated in the ceremony, I hope you will this year. If you are close to achieving your DTM and want to be included, the cutoff for submitting your paperwork to TI is March 31st. I will personally contact members whose awards are completed, or who are close to completing them to get information for inclusion on this special night.
For everyone else, please plan to register for the D25 Annual Conference DTM Ceremony on Saturday, May 20 at the DFW Marriott Solana in Westlake and support these outstanding members who have MADE THEIR MARK!
REMINDER: SUBMIT YOUR DTM PAPERWORK TO TOASTMASTERS INTERNATIONAL BY MARCH 31st TO HAVE IT PROCESSED IN TIME TO PARTICIPATE IN THE SPRING CONFERENCE DTM CEREMONY.
See you there!
