While spring is generally seen as the season of growth and rebirth, Toastmasters chooses summer to represent ours – like a phoenix rising from the ashes – we are reborn and invigorated by the winds of change.
I am excited about what this year holds for us all as Toastmasters including the connections, growth, learning, and fellowship. When I joined Toastmasters in early 2020, I had no idea what I was getting into or the changes it would spark within my life. I just saw it as an opportunity for me to grow that was offered by my company. Over the months that followed, I was introduced to others who saw things in me that I didn’t even comprehend. I was presented with challenges and opportunities to accelerate my growth while bringing others along the journey.
I’m what you’d call an ‘ambivert’, balancing the characteristics of an extrovert and an introvert. Toastmasters has given me the opportunity to flex my social muscles and grow my ability for extroversion. It all started with a famous “Have you met…” or “I think you’d be a great fit for…”. It can be scary to say yes to the unknown. Just remember that we’re never alone. There’s always someone who held the role before us to provide support and guidance.
Before you know it, where you were and where you will be miles apart – whether that be in your personal, professional or Toastmasters journey. I promise you won’t regret it as long as you remember to ask for help early and often when it’s needed.
Take the challenge, accept the invite, and say YES to your future. It can transform you in ways you never thought possible. Come on and let your sun shine bright with us this year!
