Helloooooo Sunshines! If you’ve heard anything about why I joined Toastmasters, you know that this is one of the first places where I ever felt that true sense of family. This organization offers encouragement and people wishing the best for each other, and people wanting to help each other grow and do amazing things and become amazing people. I have probably also shared that I find this to be true no matter where I meet Toastmasters in the world. Well…it continues to be true. For the first time since we got married, my husband and I actually took a real vacation. I get to go to the Bahamas for Trio training as well as the Toastmasters International Convention, so my husband and I put ten days on the front of that for a vacation. When we met our VRBO host Marcel, he asked what brought us to the Bahamas. I mentioned a convention, and he said “The Toastmasters one?” My jaw DROPPED! Turns out he is a former Toastmaster, and one of his running buddies is one of the primary planners for the whole event. Our Toastmasters Family is EVERYWHERE! What are YOU – my immediate D25 Family up to right now? SO MANY AMAZING THINGS! As I write this, officer training is almost over. We are at 60% officers trained for the summer. Hopefully that number will jump even more as there is one more TLI scheduled, and I hear whispers of a pop-up TLI. Take advantage of that! Also! Oh My Gosh! We officially welcomed our first new club of the year into our family. Please make sure you say HI to members of TNP Toastmasters. Lantana also joined just right at the end of last year, so they are still new in our district family too. We are already starting to see clubs submit the From Sunshine to Sunshine incentive. I mean really…all you’ve got to do is get two clubs together to do anything other than a contest. Go to dinner, have a joint meeting, go axe throwing…as long as two clubs are doing it together, then both clubs earn a banner ribbon! We had FIFTY clubs take advantage of the early renewals and for eight or more members renewed – all 50 of those clubs earned a special banner pin for more BANNER BLING! Our Year End Celebration is happening this month, and I hope to see you there. I LOVE celebrating what we achieve each year. Wichita Falls club 305 has some members doing something very cool- they have been invited to announce some of the finishers of the Hotter’N Hell Bicycle Race this year. The Summit speakers have been chosen – the agenda will be announced soon. And finally- Aundrea Payne is representing D25 in the International Speech Semi-Finals, and hopefully the Finals, and HOPEFULLY SHE WINS!!. Whew! It’s an action-packed month for D25! If you are a President or VPE- watch out for your special invite to our Fall D25 Business meeting (virtual) which is scheduled for Monday Sept 25 at 6:30pm. I’m exhausted just writing all the amazing things y’all are already up to. I can’t wait to see what you do next! Have a sunny day! |
