My first time experience at the District 25 Spring Conference 2012 was amazing! This was not only my first time attending an entire conference, but my first time serving on the conference committee as the First Timers Chair. I admit I had no idea what to expect, but I knew it would be a good experience. And it turned out to be exceptional.
I worked with many great people on the committee to help with the planning of this great event. I was impressed to learn how the committee provides hard work and dedication for months to make it successful. Everyone worked closely together, were very welcoming, friendly, and very supportive. I would recommend to anyone to volunteer in planning a conference in the future if the opportunity arises. As First Timer Chair, I enjoyed planning and preparing packets with goodies for the new attendees. It was a fun and exciting experience!
Sitting at the First Timer’s table gave me the opportunity to welcome all the first timers and network with them. The goal of all when planning this conference is to make everyone feel welcomed and that’s just how it felt. A special First Timers Reception provides a place for first timers to network on the first day they arrive, and we were even able to sit at the head table for the dinner on the second day. I got the chance to meet people I would have not crossed paths with, and hear about their own goals, passions, and accomplishments.
Attending a conference is a great way to get out and network with many people from many different locations, different education levels to different jobs, careers, and fields. It was a pleasure in serving with the committee as well as getting to know the first timers. The Spring Conference of 2012 was yet another successful event and I look forward to attending future ones.

Editor’s Note: Lidia was also named Outstanding Vice President Education at the Awards Luncheon, which I’m sure made her conference experience even more memorable.
