Speaker Biography: Jesse Torres
I’ve been a Toastmaster since 1995 and have previously served as club, area and division officer in District 50 and club and area officer in District 25. I currently serve as an officer in a club I helped charter in summer of 2005 and as president of a second club. I am an ardent supporter of the benefits of Toastmasters because of what is has equipped me to achieve since joining. My goal is to complete my ATM-B in 2006.

While San Antonio is my hometown, in my 30-year career as an urban planner, I’ve previously lived/ worked in Jacksonville, Florida, Beaumont, Austin and Grand Prairie, Texas. In my current position as division manager for the City of Fort Worth Planning Department, I supervise a professional staff of 8. In addition to administrative responsibilities, I serve as a liaison between our department and both city council and planning and zoning commission members. I enjoy delivering presentations to neighborhood groups and have done so as part of my job during my entire career. Since spring of 2003, as part of their annual Career Day, I have spoken to middle school students in the F.W. I.S.D. on the topic of choosing a college and career.

In December 2007 I will qualify for retirement from this position and am making plans to convert my hobby of video production into my second career.
